The third stamp to commemorate the Korean War was issued in 2003. It celebrates the dedication of the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington DC on July 27, 1995. Inscribed with the words, "Freedom is not Free," this memorial pays homage to the US veterans who were a part of this 3-year conflict. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue, July 27, 2003.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the realistic soldier-statues with a wreath. The inscription reads, "Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met. 1950-1931." Historic, collectible, this cover is unaddressed and pristeen. If someone in your family was a part of this war, this piece of postal & military memorabilia will be handed down to future generations as a reminder of your family's service to country.
Double matted in militay green & white, we have sized it to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
