On September 12, 2003, Country Music Legend Johnny Cash died in Nashville, Tennessee. Shown here is a Commemorative Cover cancelled in Nashville on the day of his death. On a Commemorative Cover, the stamp (in this case the Roy Acuff stamp that was issued September 13, 2003) serves the purpose of providing current postage, for without it, the Post Office would not affix the postmark.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts several photos of Cash throughout his life. It's printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing. Extremely historic and collectible, it's a wonderfull way to display your devotion to the Man in Black.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame.
