On May 29, 1964, the USPS issued an In Memoriam stamp to honor the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. Every President is honored with a stamp within a year of their death and usually on their birthday. (Kennedy was born May 29, 1917.) Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Boston, Mass.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Kennedy along with an American flag being flown at half-mast. Unaddressed, historic, collectible, this cover is a great piece of U.S. Presidential Memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity included***
