On September 16, 1995, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps honoring ten different Jazz Musicians. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for jazz piano legend Thelonious Monk cancelled from the city of issue (Monterey, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Monk at the pianp printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing.
