On September 16, 1995, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps honoring ten different Jazz Musicians. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for one of the greatest jazz pianists of all times, James P. Johnson, cancelled from the city of issue (Monterey, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Johnson printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing, and an inset of him playing the piano.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
