On January 10, 2007, the USPS issued a stamp to honor one of the greatest singers of all time...Ella Fitzgerald. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting her face cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special cancellation incorporating her name and microphone created for the express purpose of canceling this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a photo portrait of Ella set against a backdrop of piano keys, her name highlighted above.
