J.M.W. Turner..... On
February 19, 1975, the Royal Mail of the United Kingdom issued a set of
four stamps to celebrate the Bicentennial of the birth of J.M.W. Turner,
landscape painter, water colorist, and print maker, whose romantic
style is said to have laid the groundwork for Impressionism. Note the special postmark of an artist's palette created to cancel these stamps on their 'birthday.'
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a drawing of Turner in front of a marine landscape painting, for which, he also famous.
Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
