On June 10, 2006, the USPS issued a stamp to honor a Legend of Hollywood - Judy Garland. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Hollywood, CA) on the first day of issue (the anniversary of her birth in 1922) captioned above. Note the special postmark, featuring her signature, designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the famous Ruby Slippers, forever synonymous with Judy Garland. It's printed on silk, the luster lending an-almost three dimensional quality to the picture. From childhood actress, to Movie Star, to stage performer, Judy Garland will always be remembered for her performance as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Although Judy Garland's character Dorothy was featured on the Wizard of Oz stamp issued in 1990, this is the stamp honoring Judy herself....a must-have for any Judy Garland fan.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
