On February 26, 1999, the USPS issued a stamp jointly with Ireland to commemorate Irish Immigration. Shown here is a genuine Joint Issue - Dual Cancellation First Day Cover having both country's stamps cancelled from the cities of issue (Boston, MA for the U.S. and Cobh for Ireland) on the first day of issue captioned above. Whenever countries issue stamps jointly, a grace period insures that both countries' stamps will have the same first day of issue date. Note the fancy Irish cancellation created to cancel this stamp on its "birthday" depicting the Statue of Liberty.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Irish Immigrants and is printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing. Joint Issue - Dual Cancellation Covers are always special. This one is no exception.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
