On October 7, 1940, the USPS issued a stamp to honor inventor Eli Whitney, whose Cotton Gin revolutionized the farming of cotton.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Savannah, GA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows Whitney's Cotton Gin and a short blurb on this inventor. Whether you're a farmer, inventor, or collector of old farm equipment, this matted cover is sure to add interest to your wall.  Over 65 years old, it's in perfect condition....whoever had it in their collection since 1940, has taken excellent care of it!

Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
