On August 17,1990, the USPS issued a set of five stamps to commemorate Indian Headdresses, one of which was the Flathead. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Cody, Wyoming) on the first day of issue captioned above.  In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Indian memorabilia.

The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a Flathead in native garb. Because they were primarily traders with the white man, their headdresses incorporate many products obtained through trade such as wool, felt and beads. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about the Flathead, which we've included. Combined with other Southwest art on your wall,  this piece of postal stamp art will be a source of pride and conversation.

Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY Plus COMMENTARY INCLUDED***
