On September 21, 1984, the United Nations issued a stamp honoring the country of Italy, with a stamp depicting the National Flag of Italy. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (United Nations, New York) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special cancellation designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) celebrates the many facets of Italy - from the Vatican to the Renaissance to the magic of Venice to the splendor of Rome, the ruins of Pompeii, the sunny beaches of the Mediterranean Sea, and the snow covered Alps and Apennines. The company that produced this cover has also included a brief commentary about Italy, which we've included.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
