On September 23, 1983, the United Nations issued a stamp honoring the country of Israel, with a stamp depicting the National Flag of Israel. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (United Nations, New York) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special cancellation designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) celebrates the diversity of Israel with several vignettes....from its modern cities, to the coast of the Mediterranean, to its religious heritage. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about Israel, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
