Irish Setter...
On February 7, 1979, the Royal Mail of the United Kingdom issued four full-colored stamps celebrating four different dog breeds...the Old English Sheepdog, the Welsh Springer Spaniel, the West Highland Terrier, and the Irish Setter. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover with the stamp for the Irish Setter cancelled from the city of issue (Londonerry) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a wonderful portrait of a magnificent Irish Setter with the green fields of Ireland in the background. Bred as a bird dog, he is still very much an alert and industrious hunter as well as a prized companion. The producer of this cover has also written a short commentary about the Irish Setter, which we've included.
Matted in green, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. *** Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
