On  April 10, 2000, the USPS issued a set of five stamps to commemorate the achievements of the Edwin Powell Hubble Telescope. Depicted on the stamps are four different Nebula and one Galaxy. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp featuring the Eagle Nebula in the constellation Serpens cancelled from the city of issue (Greenbelt, MD) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of Wilhelm Herschel, the British Astronomer who contributed pioneering ideas about the structure of the universe. The producer of the cover has written a short commentary about the Eagle Nebula and Wilhelm Herschel.  We have made a copy for you.

Double matted in blue & white, it's matted to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
