On September 25, 1985, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Four American Horse Breeds....one of these is the Quarter Horse, possibly the first breed developed in North America in the 1700's. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Quarter Horse stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Lexington, Ky.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color drawing of the muscular, yet gentle Quarter Horse. The fact that this cover has a great cachet and is unaddressed contributes to the collectibility of this piece of postal and horse memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, we've sized the mat to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short history on the Quarter Horse***
