On September 25, 1985, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Four American Horse Breeds....one of these is the American Saddlebred, developed in Kentucky and known for its proudly arched neck, compact body, high-stepping trot, and smooth ride. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Saddlebred stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Lexington, Ky.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color drawing of the Saddlebred, America's premier show horse. The fact that this cover has a great cachet and is unaddressed contributes to the collectibility of this piece of postal and horse memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, we've sized the mat to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short history on the Saddlebred***
