On April 23, 1976, the USPS issued two stamps to honor two musical instruments - the Saxhorn and the Drums. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for the Saxhorn, invented by Adolphe Sax around 1855, cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY), on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a horn musician playing the saxhorn.  The picture is printed on silk, the luster lending an almost three dimensional quality to the prints.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
