Horace Mann Educator 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover....

On March 14, 1940, the USPS issued a stamp to honor educator Horace Mann. Shown here is a genuine First Day Issue Postal Cover, an envelope with the new 1-cent stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Boston, MA) on the first day of issue captioned above...the 'birthday of the stamp.'

The cachet (artwork on the envelope created by a private company, not the USPS) shows a drawing of both a one room school house and a modern school.  The following text is below,  "Horace Mann Educator - Born May 4, 1796 at Franklin, MA - Received very little schooling as a child but worked his way thru Brown Univ. - Studied law - Became Secretary of the Massachusetts Board of Education - He started the Normal School System - To him is due much of the progress of the Public School System in the United States - He died at Yellow Springs, Ohio in 1859."  Collectible and historic, this cover will be mounted using acid free clear corner mounts to preserve its mint condition.

Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.   ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
