Heroes of 9/11 - The Common Man.....

On June 7, 2002, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the men and women who both gave their lives and helped save lives during horrific events of September 11, 2001.  The company of Fleetwood produced 10 special covers or envelopes honoring 10 different groups of people that played such a crucial role.  One of these was The Common Man, average Americans who performed countless acts of bravery and exceptional kindness, many of which will never be known.  Perhaps no one embodies the heroism of the average American in 2001 more powerfully than the 33 innocent passengers and seven crew members of United Airlines Flight 93, the fourth highjacked plane on 9/11.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from one of the three cities of issue (New York City, the other two being Washington DC and Shanksville, PA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features 'The Common Man' with backpack and cellphone. The enclosed commentary continues the saga of Flight 93.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
