On June 23, 1988, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the inventor of the helicopter, Igor Sikorsky. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with his stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Stratford, Ct.) on the first day of issue (captioned above.)
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Sikorsky surrounded by his inventions...the first 4-engined aircraft, flying boats, and helicopters. Collectible, historic, this is a great piece of aviation memorabilia. The producer of this cover has also included a short commentary on Sikorsky which comes with this cover.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. *** Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
