Helen Hayes American Theater 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover
|
|
|
HELEN HAYES American Theater 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover .... On
April 25, 2011, the USPS issued a stamp to honor 'The First Lady of the
American Theater' and one of twelve people to win an Oscar, an Emmy, a
Grammy, and a Tony Award, Helen Hayes. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a black and white photo of Helen Hayes against a background of two playbills for Little Lord Fauntleroy and Jack the Giant Killer
- two plays in which she had early roles. With a career spanning over
70 years, Helen Hayes has entertained us for decades. The picture is
printed on silk, surrounded by an embossed gold border.
Matted in black and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
