Harriet Beecher Stowe.... On June 13, 2007, the USPS issued a stamp to
honor novelist and abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe in its on-going Literary Arts series. Shown here is a genuine First Day
Cover, an envelope with the new stamp, featuring a black and
white portrait of Beecher Stowe, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of
issue captioned above.
The color cachet
(artwork on the envelope) shows the front of her best known book Uncle Tom's
Cabin, as well as a framed portrait. The cachet is printed on silk, the luster lending
an-almost three dimensional look to the picture; a gold embossed border
'frames' the portrait.
Historic, collectible it's
matted in blue
& white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity
