On July 7, 1989, the Federated States of Micronesia issued a set of stamps commemorating several Sharks found in tropical waters. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting the Hammerhead Shark cancelled from the city of issue (Pohnpei Caroline, FM) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features an underwater scene and the unique Hammerhead, thought to be one of the most dangerous sharks in the world and capable of reaching as much as twelve feet in length. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about the Hammerhead, which we've included.
Matted in blue, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
