Vintage Mahogany Speedboats....

On August 4, 2007, the USPS issued a set of four full-color stamps honoring four different Vintage Mahogany Speedboats, all having two primary characteristics...their hulls and decks are built primarily of mahogany, and all were designed and built for speed. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting Thunderbird, a 1939 Hacker-Craft commuter boat custom-built by Huskins Boat Co. of Bay City, Michigan, cancelled from the city of issue (Clayton, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. Clayton, NY is home to the Antique Boat Museum and from August 3-5, 2007, hosted the 43rd Annual Antique Boat Show and Auction.  Today Thunderbird is still one of the largest and most powerful boats on Lake Tahoe.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a 1930's seaside scene, a vintage speedboat in the distance.  Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of boating memorabilia celebrating the bygone age of great wooden speedboats.

Matted in blue and white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
