On September 19, 1958, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the "Father of Hungarian Democracy" Lajos Kossuth. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the beautiful postmark created to cancel the stamp on its "birthday."
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Kossuth.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
