On August 26, 1999, the USPS issued a set of five stamps celebrating five different historic passenger trains. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp commemorating the Milwaukee Road Hiawatha cancelled from the city of issue (Cleveland, Ohio) on the first day of issue captioned above. Called "The Fastest Train in America", the Hiawatha was one of the first streamlined passenger trains, eventually transporting 700 passengers a day.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features each of the five engines rendered in watercolors.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
