HALLEY'S COMET First Day Cover Hally's Comet Stamp.... On February 18, 1986, the Royal Poste of Great Britain issued a set of stamps to commemorate the return of Halley's Comet. On April 11th the comet was closest to the earth. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with one of the stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Edinburgh) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark created for the first day cancellation.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the trajectory of the comet as it circles the sun and earth. The vibrancy of the colors both on the cachet and the stamp make this a beautiful cover indeed. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about the comet; we have made a copy for you.
Matted in blue, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
