On May 18, 1978, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Dr. George Papanicolaou, inventor of the PAP Test. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a 14k Gold Replica or Gold Foil of the stamp. It's made by taking an impression off the plate that makes the stamp and then coated in 14k gold. Mounted on a field of blue, it's further enhanced by the Great Seal of the United States. Historic, collectible, unaddressed, this matted first day cover will lend a touch of class to your wall.
Matted in blue, we've sized it to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
