Four Dog Breeds of Great Britain: Welsh Springer Spaniel, West Highland Terrier, Irish Setter, Old English Sheepdog......
On February 7, 1979, the Royal Mail of the United Kingdom issued four full-colored stamps celebrating four different dog breeds...the Old English Sheepdog, the Welsh Springer Spaniel, the West Highland Terrier, and the Irish Setter. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (London) the first day of issue captioned above. The individual stamps were cancelled the first day in the part of the UK the breed is from: Ireland for the Irish Setter, Wales for the Welsh Springer Spaniel, Scotland for the "Westie", and England for the Old English Sheepdog. Note the clever "collar" cancellation!
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features all four breeds. The producer of this cover has also written a short commentary about each breed and the importance of dogs in our lives, which we've included.
Matted in green, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. *** Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
