On October 29, 1948, the USPS issued a stamp honoring Juliette Low, founder and organizer of Girl Scouting in America.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Savannah, Ga.) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Juliette Low as a young woman.  Most First Day Covers collected in 1948 were addressed. The subscriber was responsible for sending the envelope to the city of issue to get the new stamp affixed and cancelled on the first day of issue.  Unless a separate envelope was provided, the envelope had to be addressed back to the collector or subscriber.  This envelope has a type-written return address.  We have put a sticker over it saying First Day of Issue so that the address does not detract from the appearance of the cover.

Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
