On May 1, 1998, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or "stamp" commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Girard College located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a postcard with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Philadelphia, PA) the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts the school's founder Stephen Girard and Founder's Hall, one of the most splendid examples of 19th century Greek Revival. Founder's Hall is also featured on the "stamp."
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
