George Washington 1st Day Issue Postal Cover Combo 5 Stamps....

On February 22, 2001, the USPS issued a stamp to honor George Washington with a 20-cents stamps featuring a profile of Washington from the sculpture by Jean-Antoine Houdon.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope showing the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Wall, SD) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of four older stamps, cancelled along with the new 20-cents stamp on its 'birthday', elevate this cover to a Combo.  The older stamps include a 1 1/2 cents stamp honoring Martha Washington, issued in 1938; another 1 1/2 cents stamp, this time celebrating Washington's home Mt. Vernon, issued in 1956; a 13-cents stamp commemorating the Surrender of Burgoyne at Saratoga, issued in 1977; and, finally the Washington Credo -Observe good faith and justice toward all nations- issued in 1960.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Washington that is printed on silk surrounded by an embossed gold border.

Double matted in black & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity  Included***
