On November 6, 1985, the USPS issued a stamp to honor George Washington. Because the 18 cents stamp did not meet current postage, a second stamp was added; this one features the the Washington Monument with cherry blossoms in bloom and commemorates the 1860 treaty with Japan. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features General Washington and Baron von Steuben at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777. Included with this piece is a historical blurb about the contribution of von Steuben. Historic, collectible, this is one of several pieces of Revolutionary War Postal Memorabilia offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in blue & white, this is matted to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
