On September 6, 1990, the USPS issued a stamp honoring General Claire Chennault, organizer and commander of the American Volunteer Group (AVG), known as the Flying Tigers. In charge of China's air activities, Chennault and his 90 pilots flew missions against the Japanese.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Monroe, LA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet, artwork on the envelope features a portrait of Chennault printed on silk.  This cover is sponsored by the Masonic Stamp Club of N.Y. to honor Mason Chennault.

Double matted in dark military green, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
