GARY COOPER High Noon Best Actor 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover.... On September 10, 2009, the USPS honored actor Gary Cooper with a stamp. The new stamp is shown here on a genuine 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover (envelope), cancelled from the city of issue (Los Angeles, CA) on the first day of issue
captioned above. Note the special postmark, depicting a facsimile of
Cooper's signature, created expressly to cancel this stamp on it's
'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) pays homage to perhaps Cooper's finest role - that of Marshall Will Kane in the movie High Noon,
for which Cooper won the Academy Award for Best Actor. His Marshall
badge and the pocket watch set on noon make a great picture that's
printed on silk, surrounded by an embossed gold border.
Double matted in black and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. *** Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
