Hattie McDaniel....a true Hollywood Legend with a career that featured many "firsts" ....the first African-American to sing on network radio in the US, the first African-American to win an Oscar (Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Gone With the Wind), and the first African-American to star in a title role in a television sit-com (Beulah in 1951.)  For all her accomplishments, Hattie McDaniel was honored with a US Postal Stamp January 25, 2006.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Beverly Hills, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of McDaniel printed on silk. If you're a fan of Gone With the Wind, you'll want this collectible postal cover....no one else could have played the role of Mammy like Hattie McDaniel. The producer of this cover has also written a short commentary about McDaniel which we've copied and included.

Double matted in green & white, this item is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
