On October 12, 1943, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the country of Greece. In 1943 and 1944, the U.S. paid homage to thirteen countries that were overrun by Axis powers during WWII. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington, DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Acropolis in Greece and recognizes this country for its three thousand years of heroic history and its many contributions to future civilizations. If you are of Greek heritage, this postal tribute to Greece will be a welcome addition to your family's keepsakes.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
