On September 18, 1987, the United Nations issued a stamp honoring the country of Greece, with a stamp depicting the National Flag of Greece. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (United Nations, New York) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special cancellation designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) celebrates the many facets of Greece - from the Acropolis to the Parthenon, to the sparkling blue Aegian Sea to the white-washed villages perched on cliffs, to its endless contributions to history, language, literature and science. The company that produced this cover has also included a brief commentary about Greece, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
