On September 12, 1985, the Canada Post issued a stamp commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Girl Guides. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Ottawa) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a smiling Girl Guide in her blue uniform. The Girl Guides date back to the first Boy Scout rally at the Crystal Palace in London, when, much to the surprise of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the father of scouting, a small group of girls, calling themselves "Girl Scouts" were among the eleven thousand boisterous, yelling boys. The producer of this cover has also written a brief history of Girl Guides in Canada, which we've included. Collectible, historic, this matted cover is the perfect piece of Girl Scout memorabilia to proudly display on your wall.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
