GERIATRICS: Matted AMA 1st Day Cover with 5 Aging-Related Postal Stamps
|
|
Geriatrics.......
As our population ages, many doctors are specializing in Geriatrics. Postal Stamp Art has created a special piece that any doctor would be proud to display in his office. At the top is a genuine 1947 First Day Cover commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the American Medical Association. The stamp as well as the cachet
(artwork on the left side of the envelope) depicting the painting 'The
Doctor' by Sir Samuel Luke Fildes.) The cancellation 'freezes' the first day of issue date - June 9, 1947 and the city of issue - Atlantic City, NJ. Most First Day Covers from this era were addressed; this one is not and therefore, more collectible.
We have added five uncancelled stamps, matted in a unique pattern. The top right is another 1947 AMA stamp. Below it is Diabetes Awareness stamp issued March 13, 2001. In the center is stamp for Alzheimer's, issued on October 17, 2008. The stamp in the upper right commemorates the 1981 White House Conference on Aging - the Aging Together stamp having been issued on May 21, 1982 from Sun City, AZ. At the lower right is the fifth stamp - Saluting Public Hospitals and marking the 250th Anniversary of Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
