On March 17, 1989, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or 'stamp' commemorating the Okefenokee Swamp. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, the postcard with the full-color imprint or 'stamp,' cancelled from the city of issue (Okefenokee, GA) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark designed to cancel this 'stamp' on its 'birthday.'
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a view of the swamp with an alligator, jaws agape. It's printed on silk, the luster giving the picture an almost three dimensional quality.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
