On February 12, 1983, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or 'stamp' commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Landing in Georgia by James Edward Oglethorpe. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, the postcard with the full-color imprint or 'stamp,' featuring Oglethorpe and the local Indians cancelled from the city of issue (Savannah, GA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features the Georgia State Flag, the State Capital Building, and a portrait of Oglethorpe. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about James Oglethorpe, which we've included.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
