Most people think of cutesy little lady bugs as being the only friend of gardeners...well, here's another one, the Garden Spider. In 1999, the USPS issued a set of 20 stamps to commemorate Insects & Spiders. Shown here is the Garden Spider Stamp on a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Indianapolis) on the first day of issue (October 1, 1999.)
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) is what adds to the delight of this cover. The artist used the entire envelope as her canvas by painting in watercolor a myriad of specimens. Whimsical, collectible, historic, the cover also features a wonderful cancellation!
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
