On November 28, 1989, the United States Postal Service issued two different sets of stamps - four stamps in each - to commemorate the 20th Universal Postal Congress held in Washington DC. For the first time in 92 years, the US played host to more than 1,000 delegates from most of the member nations of the Universal Postal Union. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps depicting Future Mail Transportation, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) repeats the four classic mail modes of mail delivery...Hypersonic Airliner, Air-Cushion Vehicle, Surface Rover, and Shuttle.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
