Canadian Steam Locomotives.....

On November 7, 1985, the Canada Post issued four stamps commemorating four historic steam locomotives for the period 1906-1925 - the CP Class P2a 2-8-2, the GT Class K2  4-6-4 type, the CNoR Class 010a 0-6-0, and the CGR Class H4D 2-8-0.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Ottawa, Canada) on the first day of issue captioned above. This period of Canadian railway history was dominated by the establishment and frowth of the government-owned Canadian National Railways.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features two archival photos showing the Turcot Roundhouse in Montreal in 1917, and a Canadian National J-4-C Class Pacific-type locomotive built in 1918.

Matted in blue, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
