On February 5, 1988, the USPS issued a set of four stamps to celebrate eight different Cat Breeds (two breeds on each stamp.) Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover with all four stamps in the series cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue captioned above. the eight breeds are the Siamese, the Exotic Shorthair, the Abyssinian, the Himalayan, the Maine Coon, the Burmese, and American Shorthair, and the Persian.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a sepia drawing of a little girl surrounded by four domestic friends.
