Forest Conservation....
On October 27, 1958, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorated Forest Conservation. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Tucson, Arizona) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special Smokey the Bear postmark and the words, "Keep America Green."
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a picture of America's forest wilderness, a picture of Theodore Roosevelt, the Father of Conservation, and Smokey the Bear, an American icon of Forest Conservation.
