On October 1, 1987, the USPS issued five stamps to commemorate the earliest U.S. Steam Engines.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover in the form of a Proof Card, with All Five Stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Baltimore) on the first day of issue captioned above.  The five locomotives are the : Stourbridge Lion, Best Friend of Charleston, John Bull, Brother Jonathan, and Gowen & Marx.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the card) features an extra locomotive, the DeWitt Clinton. The beautiful cachet plus the fact that the entire series is cancelled on the first day, makes this piece a collectible, historic piece of postal and railroad memorabilia.

Matted in green, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.   ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short history of the DeWitt Clinton and the artist of the cachet***
