Antique Toy Fire Pumper.......
On October 22, 1992, the USPS issued a series of four Antique Toy Christmas Stamps, one, of which, was the Toy Steamer or Fire Pumper circa 1878. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover in the form of a Maximum Card, with the 29-cents airmail stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Kansas City, MO) on the first day of issue captioned above.
A Maximum Card, printed on heavy stock paper, has as its defining characteristic the exceptional artwork (cachet), which encompasses the entire card. Even the words "First Day of Issue" are omitted in order to not interfere with the picture. The back of the card is printed with a brief commentary about the subject, in this case - the Toy Antique Steamer and Christmas. Also on the back is a testament to the fact that this is indeed a First Day Cover. Wall Art Collectibles makes a copy and includes it along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The full-color cachet features a stunning picture of a small boy in a fire helmet playing with a modern hook and ladder; other firefighting toys from years gone by surround this scene. The artist is Chris Calle, a noted cachet and stamp designer. The stamp features a full-color Toy Fire Pumper.
We've double matted this First Day Cover in blue and white and sized it to fit a standard 8x10 frame.
